Almost everyone agrees that humans are largely responsible for global warming due to the enormous emission of CO2. It is logical that people also provide a solution for this, such as capturing CO2 at the place where you make it, at power stations or in industry. You can store this gas in the soil; in empty oil or gas fields.

In the short term this is a feasible solution, but it is better to both emit less CO2 and to reuse the CO2 produced as a useful raw material. This is possible, for example by reacting it with hydrogen to form methane and water, but a lot of energy is required in that reaction for it to proceed. CO2 is quite inert. Research is going on all over the world to solve that dilemma, mainly with all kinds of catalysis.
