Economic support measures for CCS8 August 2012Implementing a number of economic support measures for CCS now, at EU and Member State level, will avoid delay in demonstrating and widely deploying the technology, helping the EU to achieve its climate goals cost-effectively. ZEP has recently published a report with policy recommendations. The report is written against the background of an insufficiently high ETS price, and argues that while the ETS must remain the backbone of an overall incentive scheme, additional temporary and complementary support measures are required. It investigates both EU-wide and national measures, and while the preference is for regional measures for the EU as a whole, it sees national measures as potentially necessary. |
