Dutch CCS ‘Debate Map’ now available

12 June 2018

One of CATO's objectives is to improve the quality of the public debate around the future of CCS in the Netherlands. To contribute to achieving this goal, CATO has commissioned the production of a Argumentenkaart, or ‘Debate Map'. The Debate Map is a unique and recognizable product that has been developed for a number of complex societal issues such as nuclear waste and shale gas.

The Debate Map produced for CATO provides an overview of stakeholder viewpoints on the for and against arguments of CCS. Specifically, the central question for the Debate Map is ‘What are the arguments for and against CO2 capture from industry with offshore geological storage'.

The arguments were collected during a series of focus groups consisting of members of Dutch industry, port authorities, universities, research institutes and non-government organisations, each holding varying stances on the central question.

The Debate Map ‘Argumentenkaart' can be accessed here.
