DEI subsidy to broaden and address CO2 reduction

4 February 2019

In 2019, the subsidy scheme for Demonstrating Energy Innovation (Demonstratie Energie-Innovatie, DEI) will be altered significantly. More emphasis will be placed on the condition for achieving CO2 reductions in demonstration projects, and new types of projects will become applicable. The subsidy scheme is expected to open in February, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), will assess proposals on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The scheme was previously intended to showcase Dutch energy innovations, particularly for the export of new technologies. From 2019, there will be more emphasis on technologies that can contribute to achieving the national climate agreement ‘het Klimaatakkoord'. CO2 reduction technologies for industry, including CO2 capture, storage and use (CCUS) are now applicable for funding.
